Celebrating the Magna Charta – April 11, 2015 - DC

The 2015 Reception and Dinner of the National Society Magna Charta Dames and Barons will be held, Saturday, April 11, 2015 at the University Club, 1135-16^th Street, N.W., Washington, D.C.

“Living the 800^th Anniversary of the Sealing of Magna Charta”

     We describe the path from the launch of the 800^TH Anniversary at Runnymede in 2010 to many events leading to plans for the Anniversary when we anticipate 200 representatives at the field of Runnymede. We may include some brief video clips. With the clarity and quality of the video you can experience the launch event and the events leading up to the 2015 –as a reminder this will introduce a small portion of our video which can be used by teachers in their classrooms – without cost to them – a program of our Society where we can really make a difference.

Now we turn to the legacy of the 800^th and look to our members for suggestions, especially for their communities and local educational institutions, for the programs which will memorialize 800 years of Magna Charta.

We encourage our members and non-members to send us their written ideas and visions of the legacy of the 800^th. We will summarize the ideas in a report at the dinner and if there are exceptionally creative ideas or exceptionally prominent advocates for the celebration (with creative ideas), we plan to invite their presentation. We are mindful of time limitations for presentations, but we also provide a reminder that the audience for the dinner is far beyond the lucky few who subscribe to the dinner. Thanks to the internet, it extends worldwide and into the future.

 The Reception will begin at 5:30PM and the Dinner will begin at 7:00PM. The cost of the reception and dinner will be $125.00 and the cost for the reception without the dinner is $50.00, each with a cash bar. Reservations are required and limited. Black Tie is optional. Amounts contributed in excess of the cost of the dinner are deductible as charitable contributions. An additional charge of $10.00 per person is required for payment at the door.
